Frequently Asked Questions
I know buying or commissioning art can come with a few questions. Hopefully this clears them up, but feel free to get in touch if there’s anything else you’d like to know.
-
It all begins with a conversation! Whether you’re commissioning a portrait or a memory-inspired piece, we’ll start by chatting about your idea, what you have in mind, the story behind it, and any specific details or preferences. From there, I can guide you through the options.
-
I offer two main types of commissions:
Pet & Family Portraits – in pencil or watercolour
Sentimental Artworks – these are symbolic or memory-based pieces, created in pencil, pen, watercolour, acrylic, or oil
-
For pet or family portraits, I’ll need:
Your preferred medium (e.g. pencil or watercolour)
The size of the artwork
Your timeline or deadline
Clear reference photos, especially ones where facial features and eyes are sharp. You’re welcome to send a few options, and we’ll choose the best one together.
-
These artworks are less about a photo likeness and more about capturing a feeling, memory, or story. They might be inspired by:
A place, home, or moment
A Bible verse or quote
A meaningful object (like a wine bottle or teacup)
A shared experience or personal tribute
They often involve a more in-depth conversation (via phone, video, or in-person) to understand the heart behind the idea.
-
Portraits: Usually pencil or watercolour
Sentimental Artworks: Pencil, pen, watercolour, acrylic, or oil, depending on the subject, tone, and your preference
I'm happy to advise on which medium might best suit your vision.
-
Pricing depends on the size, medium, and level of detail, but I believe meaningful art should be accessible. I offer a range of options to suit different budgets, and I’m always happy to work with you to find a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Once we’ve chatted about your idea, I’ll send through a clear price list to help guide your choices.

Yes. A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining 50% is due before delivery or collection.
-
Timeframes vary depending on the type and medium:
Pencil or watercolour works: Usually 2–4 weeks
Oil or acrylic paintings: May take longer due to drying time
For oil paintings, please note:
They require 3–6 months to fully dry before they can be varnished. Varnishing protects the work and enhances colour richness. If needed sooner, I can deliver it unvarnished with guidance, or you can return it for varnishing later (courier costs to be discussed). -
Yes! Prints can be arranged upon request, whether you’d like copies to gift to family, use as keepsakes, or turn into cards.
-
Where possible, I love to deliver artworks personally. Otherwise, I’m happy to arrange a courier (delivery fees may apply). Packaging is done with great care to protect the piece in transit.
-
Absolutely! I'm always open to new ideas and collaborations. Whether you're looking for illustrated restaurant menus, wedding portraits or gifts, book illustrations, or something entirely unique, I'd love to hear about it. If it involves creativity and storytelling through art, I'm in. Let’s chat and see what we can create together.
